HONOLULU — The Federal Aviation Administration says a pilot escaped injury Monday when he had to make a landing without landing gear at Kalaeloa.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported the single-engine Piper 28 Cherokee landed safely on its belly and sustained minor damage.

The 13-year-old, four-seat airplane is registered to George’s Aviation Services.

It landed with its landing gear up at about 5:30 p.m. at John Rodgers Field.

The pilot was the only person on board.
